Exorbitant House of the Week, $139 Million Edition
September 16th, 2014
Thought housing in D.C. was expensive? Try Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Yes, I know this is a blog about local real estate, but this is the most expensive house in America, according to Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate, which listed the property. It has a French name: Le Palais Royal. It has a logo. And it just hit the market. I couldn’t resist.
The palais, on the water just outside Fort Lauderdale, is priced at $139 million. It’s got a 492-foot private dock to accommodate a 185-foot “mega yacht,” according to Coldwell Banker. The underground garage has parking for more than 30 cars. There are 11 bedrooms, 17 bathrooms, seven waterfalls, the first-ever IMAX screen for private home use, and lots of gold.
Or at least there will be when it’s complete, scheduled to happen by the end of next year. For now, your feasting eyes will have to make do with a few renderings.
