MIAMI — Do you ever wonder what it looks like over the hedges and behind the gates of South Florida’s mega mansions?
CBS 12’s Ric Blackwell gives you an inside and exclusive look at a $65 million listing.
La Brisa in beautiful Coconut Grove is situated on 6.9 acres of land. The home is 13,803 square feet. It has nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms. But La Brisa is more than numbers, it’s about history.
“When you pass through front gates of La Brisa, you feel like you are transported back in time to the 1920’s,” William Pierce, the listing agent for La Brisa said.
The old Florida feel stars at the fountain in front, featuring a statue from the 1920’s. The antique door is five inches thick with a 90 year old knob. The flooring is a century old. Every room is stunning. There’s a family room with a beautiful fireplace, shelves of books in the library, a modern media room, a state of the art kitchen, and a gigantic game room.
The Monroe’s back in 1880 were the first to live on the property. Kirk Monroe was a children’s book author. In fact, at one point, he took water from the natural spring and gave it to the soldiers in the Spanish-American war. The spring is next to a boat slip that accommodates a 68 foot yacht. Nearby, a wooden walkway is surrounded by mangroves. At the end, a deck with beautiful views of Biscayne Bay. Back at the house, a huge patio made from coral, an outdoor fire pit, and an over sized pool.
